Longwater Christmas Party

Longwater Christmas Party

On the 30th of November we held a party for 300 customers and staff to say thank you for their continued support and help. It was a great night, enjoyed by all, but at the heart of it we like to use events like these to raise money for some good causes. At Longwater we try to support local families who need help and this year we have been touched by the story of Immy.
Imogen Roe is a local 9 year old girl from Drayton, Norwich, with relapsed Leukaemia.  She was initially diagnosed 3 years ago, but was given the all clear early this year, however in July the Leukaemia returned. Unfortunately chemotherapy alone isn’t enough to cure her, so she now needs a Bone Marrow Transplant. Neither Imogens Twin sister or brother are a match So the family were overjoyed when they found a match from America. Following the transplant,  Imogen is currently in Bristol Hospital, and due to the severity of the treatment, she will spend months in isolation there, miles from home over Christmas. Contact with siblings is from behind glass. The family are completely divided.
Longwater decided as well as collecting donations from everyone, we auctioned off the table decorations we had, some going for £500. In total we raised £8000.
The money we raised will pay for the cost of travel for her family, so she doesn’t have to spend Christmas alone and due to the fact her parents have had to give up work to see her and keep some normality in the rest of the family, money will also go towards helping Imogen’s family in daily living costs and making memories so they can all enjoy precious time together.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year from all of us at Longwater.
